DIY Deep Conditioner

Alrighty, ladies and gents, think it is high time to get started for real on this blog. I want to tie in Pinterest as much as possible, so I thought we would start from something from my my diy board. This pin is a DIY Deep Conditioning treatment, which came from this blog. I've been wanting to try this for a while, so here we go!

I just want you guys to understand what kind of crazy hair I have. Just a few adjectives for you: Long, thick, curly, normal to greasy, ridiculous, fried at the ends, out of control, frizzy. I am LONG over-do for a salon visit and by long over-do I mean I have only gotten my hair professionally cut once since I graduated high school (2011). Judge me if you will, but I have a fear of having my hair cut. It is a huge ordeal, with lots of tears before and after and much self-loathing for at least a week. Haters gonna hate, but that me. SO! Here is my hair before...

Okay, now let's get going on this Deep Conditioner Treatment thingy. I started out by showering and washing my hair with just shampoo. Once was done I applied a very generous amount of conditioner  all over my hair, concentrating on the ends since they needed the most TLC. Now that my hair was all slimy and conditioner-ed up, I pulled it into my favorite hair claw. Now, if you have a shower cap, it would probably work a lot better, but I'm a broke college kid, so a Walmart bag it was!

I blow dried it a little bit with my diffuser attachment to heat up my hair a little bit and wrapped it all up in a towel. The original blog said that you only had to leave it in for 15 minutes. I left it in for almost an hour because all I am doing today is homework (boo, Jane Eyre) and I didn't see any reason not to leave it in for that long.

After I washed the conditioner out, I have to say that I really wasn't that impressed. I think it made a bit of a difference, especially to the ends of my hair, but that may be wishful thinking. I had really high hopes for this, but it was kind of a dud. Maybe it would work for hair that isn't so thick and demanding. It's worth a shot, since it is no cost to you, unless you don't already own conditioner. Try it out and let me know how it worked for you.

Update on the stye situation

Well, I went to the doctor this morning after waking up like this:

So beautiful, I know. I got a prescription cream, which I have to put in my eye (ew!!) and some painkillers. Unfortunately, it's going to get worse before it gets better. Hopefully it will be better by Monday so I am not scaring my classmates with my Quasimodo face. I  just thought I would keep y'all updated! I will get to some tutorials as soon as this clears up.

*tiny* Walmart haul

Hello, ladies and gents! Guess what day it is?? C'mon, C'mon, C'mon! HUMP DAY!

So, I have a lovely stye on my eye, so I can't really do any sort of make-up application. But! I went to my local Walmart a little while ago and I wanted to share my treasures with you guys.

Here are the two Walmart beauty brand, equate beauty, products:
 1. Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
The packaging states that these compare to Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. I would definitely agree with that. These really take off all of your makeup very easily. They are fairly cheap as well (more expensive online) and I think I got them for 3 bucks or so. There are 40 in my package, but I rip them in half, so there are 80 in a package for me! They do leave a very thin layer of moisture left over, so if you have SUPER oily skin, that may be a concern for you. Overall, I think this is a wonderful product, especially for the price.
2. Breakout Control Acne Cleanser
This facial wash is said to compare to Clean &Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser. I really did not like this product at all. This left a layer of product all over my face. I tried a couple different approaches to washing my face with this, but it just didn't seem to ever wash completely off, unless I used another face wash to get it off. Maybe that is what it meant by "Continuous Control", but I just don't want face wash sitting on my face all day. This product also made me break out, not terribly, but still. Isn't the point of a face wash to clear up acne, not create it? The only redeemable thing I found about this product was that it had a really nice cooling sensation, which makes the user feel like the product is really working.

The other face wash I got was the L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Anti-Breakout Facial Cleanser. I really like this product because I feel like it lives up to its name. I hardly ever break out when I am using this product on the daily bases. It also comes with a "Scrublet" which "controls breakouts and clears blackheads". I like the scrublet because I don't really want to wash my face with the hands that just touched shampoo, conditioner, and a now, dirty washcloth. The scrublet is a part of the packaging of the bottle, so you don't have to worry about it sitting on the shower ledge accumulating germs. This product is also a bit cheaper in the stores (I picked this up for $4.97).

Last, but not least, I picked up an NYC Color Wheels Mosaic Face Powder in the the color Rose Glow. I love the color that it gives off on my face, very natural. Unfortunately, this product seems to have a problem with staying together. By the time I got this one home it had already broken up and the one I had before this one did the same. Since it is a power its not a huge deal, but if you're not careful it can get EVERYWHERE. However, I love this product so much that I will look over this inconvenience.

I hope you found some of this helpful and as always, feel free to leave any suggestions, opinions, etc. in the comments below.

New Beginnings

Welcome to the Pintrest Beauty Babe!

My name is Courtnie Morin  and I run this lovely blog. Being that this is the first post, I thought this could be a getting to know you sort of deal. I hope you will leave a comment so that I can get to know you as well.
I am a full-time student at Eastern Kentucky University. I am studying English Literature and really have no idea what I want to do with it. I just think if I am paying thousands of dollars a year to learn something, it should be something I enjoy. I work at Panera Bread, somewhere that I can be surrounded by some of my closest friends and the wonderful people of Northern Kentucky. I also have a wonderful boyfriend, Tommy, who is an Intelligence Specialist for our great nation's Navy. I'm sure he will be making a couple of appearances from time to time.
Basically, this blog (and soon to be YouTube channel) have stemmed from my love of three things, Make-up, Pintrest, and sharing my passions with other. If this blog reaches just one person out there and brings them a bit of joy or knowledge, then I will think of this whole endeavor as a success.

So, here's to new beginnings!
