DIY Deep Conditioner

Alrighty, ladies and gents, think it is high time to get started for real on this blog. I want to tie in Pinterest as much as possible, so I thought we would start from something from my my diy board. This pin is a DIY Deep Conditioning treatment, which came from this blog. I've been wanting to try this for a while, so here we go!

I just want you guys to understand what kind of crazy hair I have. Just a few adjectives for you: Long, thick, curly, normal to greasy, ridiculous, fried at the ends, out of control, frizzy. I am LONG over-do for a salon visit and by long over-do I mean I have only gotten my hair professionally cut once since I graduated high school (2011). Judge me if you will, but I have a fear of having my hair cut. It is a huge ordeal, with lots of tears before and after and much self-loathing for at least a week. Haters gonna hate, but that me. SO! Here is my hair before...

Okay, now let's get going on this Deep Conditioner Treatment thingy. I started out by showering and washing my hair with just shampoo. Once was done I applied a very generous amount of conditioner  all over my hair, concentrating on the ends since they needed the most TLC. Now that my hair was all slimy and conditioner-ed up, I pulled it into my favorite hair claw. Now, if you have a shower cap, it would probably work a lot better, but I'm a broke college kid, so a Walmart bag it was!

I blow dried it a little bit with my diffuser attachment to heat up my hair a little bit and wrapped it all up in a towel. The original blog said that you only had to leave it in for 15 minutes. I left it in for almost an hour because all I am doing today is homework (boo, Jane Eyre) and I didn't see any reason not to leave it in for that long.

After I washed the conditioner out, I have to say that I really wasn't that impressed. I think it made a bit of a difference, especially to the ends of my hair, but that may be wishful thinking. I had really high hopes for this, but it was kind of a dud. Maybe it would work for hair that isn't so thick and demanding. It's worth a shot, since it is no cost to you, unless you don't already own conditioner. Try it out and let me know how it worked for you.

Xoxo, Courtnie
